Reading is language in print! Some people struggle to comprehend what they read due to an undiagnosed or subclinical language disorder. We are language and reading specialists -- teaching decoding, reading fluency, and comprehension at every level of reading development.
Expressive Language disorders often present themselves when it is time to share ideas in writing. We target language through written expression by focusing on syntax, grammar, vocabulary, organization, and much more!
Executive Functions are those actions we take to accomplish goal-directed behavior. These are complex, integrated mental tasks that are necessary for academic success as well as success in the workplace. We provide strategy instruction to improve organization, meta-linguistic abilities, self-advocacy and many more of these complex cognitive tasks.
Social communication requires an ability to understand non-verbal language, to understand that other people have thoughts and feelings that are different than ours, and to know how to flexibly modify our words and actions in response to those around us. It is what many people think of as Social Skills. We work with individuals and families to foster healthy relationships through social communication.
Our goal is to improve the lives of our clients through evaluation, treatment, and consultation. We assist clients and caregivers in understanding diagnoses, knowing what accommodations they or their loved one may need to succeed, and communicating with other professionals to ensure that what is learned in the therapy room translates to success in their every day lives.
